Covered by Hitachi’s Lifetime Lithium Ion tool warranty, the C18DGLP4 (tool body only) combines comfort and convenience with power and precision. It is compatible with all Hitachi’s 18V Lithium Ion slide-type batteries (sold separately), and is capable of generating a no-load speed of 4,500 RPM from its lightweight and compact body. The innovative design and soft grip handle prevent fatigue, while the left side blade position and built-in LED spotlight increase visibility of the cut line. The C18DGLP4 features a 50° bevel angle for accuracy, an electric brake for precision and safety, blade guard for added safety, and a fan cooled motor for increased run time. Put these together for a cordless circular saw that is truly capable of a wide range of tasks.
It is excellent for all-around use for a home-owner and amateur carpenter
Outstanding saw for the money. I, of course, does not have the torque or performance of my trusty Milwaukee 120V circular saw, but that is an unfair comparison. It is excellent for all-around use for a home-owner and amateur carpenter. Being cordless, it is extremely convenient….the whole idea of going cordless. I bought the naked tool as I already had several 18V Hitachi batteries. Its ergonomics are great for my small hands, and I love the relatively light weight. Hitachi seems to have the “grip feel” of their tools down to a science; the grips on all of their tools feel like they somehow “mold” to your hand to minimize fatigue. I have used this saw on both 2×4’s and OSB sheets, and thus far, it has worked quite well. Just keep in mind: This saw is NOT a heavy-duty pro-grade tool, nor is it intended to be. It is perfect for cutting plywood and used as a “board cut-off saw”. You will need to buy a dedicated plywood blade, however, to cut OSB and plywood. (I also recommend a good 8 foot saw guide when doing so. ) The coarse-blade provided is fine for boards, but not sheeting. Yet another excellent tool by Hitachi ! I own about every 18V tool they make; they have all been simply outstanding, especially the hammer drill (Model DV 18DSDL…a real BEAST !!) One last thought: Hitachi has a lifetime guarantee on nearly all of their 18V line. They DO honor this warranty ! (I know from having a failure of a Hitachi recip-saw; they repaired it at their Georgia facility and returned it immediately).
Hitachi truly is a hidden gem
for the price this cannot be beat, this was only going to be my hobby circular saw but in using it with a few projects here and there i have come to understand how much more powerful this thing is than the price claims it to be.
Excellent tool. Purchased to install Pergo flooring. More then enough power, nice clean cut and decent battery life. (I did need to change batter out at lest once in a day.) Do realize this does not include a battery!! In my hast to make a purchase I failed to read the description properly and it clearly indicates “Bare Tool”. The Battery and charge were well over $100 so I purchased an 18V Hitachi drill which came with two batteries and charger for under $80.
Great saw for the money
and this one is great as well
I’m a big fan of the Hitachi cordless tools, and this one is great as well. It’s lightweight, but has decent cutting power. I wouldn’t use it to build a house, but for light duty home use it’s fine. The battery doesn’t last very long, which is something I expected given the power draw. I have 3 batteries, so I was able to cycle through them without running out of power during a bathroom remodel over the weekend. If you have a project that requires a lot of cutting, you would need at least 2 batteries to keep up your workflow.
I was somewhat Leary about buying a battery operated saw. I just had the stigma that they would not be strong enough to cut through plywood and 2×4’s. I was totally wrong! This thing cut through 1 inch plywood like it was butter. I could not believe how well it cut with the stock blade. The cuts were smooth and the saw seemed to have plenty of power to spare. I would highly recommend this saw along with the other Hitachi power tools line.
Love it- very easy to use
Love it- very easy to use. Didn’t come with a battery, so I also bought the Hitachi drill which uses the same battery and came with two- so I now have one battery for each.
Great saw for years I have been using a left handed saw because it is easier to see the cut if you are right handed, this comes that way for that very reason. Genius.
Fantastic tool; get the bigger battery.
Hitachi tools are the hidden gem of the DIY industry. Lifetime warranty sold me on these. This saw can be put through the paces of a moderate sized job and just keeps working with no issues at all. Advice: Get the 3.0 amp hour battery for extended cutting time.
